The Texas Foundation for Safer Children was chartered on November 6, 2003, and is dedicated to promoting the safety of children, and empowering them with the skills and resources they need in order to keep from becoming or remaining victims of sexual and/or physical abuse. The Texas F.S.C. is also dedicated to helping these young people and their families in the healing process so that they can move forward with their lives, free from any unnecessary pain that may come with unaddressed issues and feelings. Our Mission The Texas Foundation for Safer Children is dedicated to four basic areas: 1. To help provide bilingual preventive, interventive and postventive services to children and families in the South/Central/North Texas area who have experienced the harsh realities surrounding domestic violence, including sexual abuse (pedophilia and incest) and child physical abuse. It is the goal of the Texas F.S.C. to expand these services to all areas of Texas as funding permits. 2. Through the use of various means of multimedia, the Texas F.S.C. will promote innovative bilingual education, cross-cultural and social awareness and create effective bilingual programs that directly address the various unspoken and commonly denied issues of families and children of harsh domestic violence and/or abusive environments. 3. To promote legislative change regarding current laws and procedures affecting children and families of domestic violence and/or child sexual abuse (incest and pedophilia). Texas F.S.C. will be working closely with some of our Texas legislators to introduce these proposed changes at the next session of the Texas Legislature. 4. To design and execute field research to determine the present status of: a. domestic violence and/or sexual abuse of the children and families; b. the existing programs, and c. current laws and procedures. |
